sincitiotrofoblasto
The syncytiotrophoblast (from the Greek 'syn'- "together"; 'cytio'- "of cells"; 'tropho'- "nutrition"; 'blast'- "bud") is the epithelial covering of the highly vascular embryonic placental villi, which invades the wall of the uterus to establish nutrient circulation between the embryo and the mother. It is a multinucleate, terminally differentiated syncytium, extending to 13cm.

El sincitiotrofoblasto o sinciciotrofoblasto es la capa más externa del trofoblasto embrionario, adosada al citotrofoblasto, cuya función es crear anticuerpos endometrio materno en el desarrollo de la circulación sanguínea. El prefijo sincitio da alusión al hecho de que son células que han perdido su membrana celular, por lo que les da la apariencia de ser multinucleadas.
