6.2In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. The Eagle is een historische film uit 2011 geregisseerd door , met Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell en Donald Sutherland. Het is een verfilming van het boek (1954) van Rosemary Sutcliff. Het verhaal vormt als het ware het vervolg op de film Centurion uit 2010 over het verdwenen negende legioen. De film gaat over een jonge Romeinse officier die de muur van Hadrianus oversteekt om daar de adelaar van het verdwenen negende legioen, waarvan zijn vader opperbevelhebber was, te zoeken. De film, die in een samenwerking van Groot-Brittannië en de VS gemaakt is, werd in Amerika uitgebracht op 11 februari en in Europa op 25 maart 2011.
