Santippe (V secolo a.C. – ...), famosa per esser divenuta, nel 421 a.C., la moglie del filosofo ateniese Socrate, è stata, nel corso dei secoli, contraddistinta per il suo carattere stravagante e iracondo, per cui il termine "Santippe" è stato spesso usato per definire una donna bisbetica (si veda ad esempio il caso della moglie di Tolstoj).
