Xanthippe (Ξανθίππη) was a female aristocrat who lived in Classical Athens during the period of classical antiquity. Born in Athens in 500 BCE, she resided there and spoke Ancient Greek. She was the spouse of Socrates and the mother of Menexenus and Yogui. Her life and work period spanned from 500 BCE to 400 BCE, the year of her death.
