sumatriptan
Sumatriptan, sold under the brand name Imitrex among others, is a medication used to treat migraine headaches and cluster headaches. It is taken orally, intranasally, or by subcutaneous injection. Therapeutic effects generally occur within three hours. Sumatriptan is a serotonin (5-HT1B/1D) receptor agonist (triptan).
bufotenine
Bufotenin, also known as dimethylserotonin or as '5-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-HO-DMT'), is a serotonergic psychedelic of the tryptamine family. It is a derivative of the psychedelic dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and of the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT). The compound is an alkaloid found in some species of mushrooms, plants, and toads. It is also found naturally in the human body in small amounts. Bufotenin, for instance derived from the trees Anadenanthera colubrina and Anadenanthera peregrina, has a long history of entheogenic use as a snuff in South America.
N,N-dimethyl-5-methoxytryptamine
5-MeO-DMT, also known as '5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine, as well as O-methylbufotenin or mebufotenin', is an atypical psychedelic drug, entheogen, and alkaloid of the tryptamine and 5-methoxytryptamine families. It is found naturally in a wide variety of plant species, and is also secreted by the glands of at least one toad species, the Colorado River toad (Incilius alvarius, formerly Bufo alvarius). It may occur naturally in humans as well. Like its close relatives dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and bufotenin (5-HO-DMT), it has been used as an entheogen in South America. Slang terms include five
rizatriptan
Rizatriptan, sold under the brand name Maxalt among others, is a medication used for the treatment of migraine headaches. It is taken by mouth. It can also be applied on the tongue. It is a serotonin (5-HT) 1B/1D receptor agonist (triptan).
naratriptan
Naratriptan, sold under the brand names Amerge and Naramig among others, is a triptan drug marketed by GlaxoSmithKline and is used for the treatment of migraine headaches. It is a selective serotonin 5-HT1 receptor family agonist.
zolmitriptan
Zolmitriptan, sold under the brand name Zomig among others, is a serotonergic medication which is used in the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura and cluster headaches. It is taken by mouth as a swallowed or disintegrating tablet or as a nasal spray.
methylergonovine
Methylergometrine, also known as methylergonovine and sold under the brand name Methergine, is a medication of the ergoline and lysergamide groups which is used as an oxytocic in obstetrics and as an antimigraine agent in the treatment of migraine headaches. It reportedly produces psychedelic effects similar to those of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) at high doses.
frovatriptan
Frovatriptan, sold under the brand name Frova among others, is a triptan medication developed by Vernalis for the treatment of migraine headaches and for short term prevention of menstrual migraine. The product is licensed to Endo Pharmaceuticals in North America and Menarini in Europe.
almotriptan
Almotriptan, sold under the brand names Axert and Almogran among others, is a triptan medication used in the treatment of heavy migraine headache.
methysergide
Methysergide, sold under the brand names Deseril and Sansert, is a monoaminergic medication which is used in the prevention and treatment of migraine and cluster headaches. It has been withdrawn from the market in the United States and Canada due to safety concerns. The drug has also been found to produce psychedelic effects at high doses. It is taken orally.
5-methoxy-N,N-diisopropyltryptamine
5-MeO-DiPT, also known as '5-methoxy-N,N-diisopropyltryptamine and sometimes as foxy methoxy or simply foxy', is an atypical psychedelic drug of the tryptamine and 5-methoxytryptamine families. It has unique and distinct effects from other serotonergic tryptamines, including some stimulant- and entactogen-like effects, robust tactile and sexual enhancement, and only light hallucinogenic effects. The drug is usually taken orally, but may also be used by other routes.
eletriptan
Eletriptan, sold under the brand name Relpax and used in the form of eletriptan hydrobromide, is a second-generation triptan medication intended for treatment of migraine headaches. It is used as an abortive medication, blocking a migraine attack which is already in progress. Eletriptan is marketed and manufactured by Pfizer.
lasmiditan
Lasmiditan, sold under the brand name Reyvow, is a medication used to treat migraines. It is not useful for prevention. The drug is taken by mouth.
escaline
Escaline (E), also known as 3,5-dimethoxy-4-ethoxyphenethylamine, is a psychedelic drug of the phenethylamine and scaline families related to mescaline. It is the 4-ethoxy analogue of mescaline (3,4,5-trimethoxyphenethylamine) and the phenethylamine (non-α-methyl) analogue of 3C-E (3,5-dimethoxy-4-ethoxyamphetamine). The drug has been encountered as a novel designer drug.
BRL-54443
BRL-54443 is a drug of the piperidinylindole family which acts as a selective agonist for the 5-HT1E and 5-HT1F serotonin receptor subtypes.
LY334370
LY-334370 is a selective serotonin 5-HT1F receptor agonist of the triptan and piperidinylindole families which was under development by Eli Lilly and Company for the treatment of migraine headaches. The drug showed efficacy in a phase II clinical trial but further development was halted due to toxicity detected in animals. It is closely related to tryptamines like the psychedelic drug dimethyltryptamine (DMT), but is not technically a tryptamine itself and is instead a piperidinylindole similarly to naratriptan.
