iodoform
thumb|Iodoform stored in an ampoule Iodoform (also known as triiodomethane) is the organoiodine compound with the chemical formula . It is a pale yellow, crystalline, volatile substance, with a penetrating and distinctive odor (in older chemistry texts, the smell is sometimes referred to as that of hospitals, where the compound is still commonly used) and, analogous to chloroform, sweetish taste. It is occasionally used as a disinfectant.
L-thyroxine
Levothyroxine, also known as -thyroxine, is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4). It is used to treat thyroid hormone deficiency (hypothyroidism), including a severe form known as myxedema coma. It may also be used to treat and prevent certain types of thyroid tumors. It is not indicated for weight loss. Levothyroxine is taken orally (by mouth) or given by intravenous injection. Levothyroxine has a half-life of 7.5 days when taken daily, so about six weeks is required for it to reach a steady level in the blood.
erythrosine
Erythrosine, also known as E127 and Red No. 3, is an organoiodine compound, specifically a derivative of fluorone. It is a red-pink dye used for food coloring, cosmetics, hair coloring, pet products, and diverse industrial colorings. It is the disodium salt of 2,4,5,7-tetraiodofluorescein.
iodoethane
chemical compound
idoxuridine
Idoxuridine is an anti-herpesvirus antiviral drug.
organoiodine compound
organic compound containing at least one covalent carbon-iodine bond
iodoacetamide
Iodoacetamide (IAA) is an organic compound with the chemical formula . It is an alkylating agent used for peptide mapping purposes. Its actions are similar to those of iodoacetate. It is commonly used to bind covalently with the thiol group of cysteine so the protein cannot form disulfide bonds. It is also used in ubiquitin studies as an inhibitor of deubiquitinase enzymes (DUBs) because it alkylates the cysteine residues at the DUB active site.
iodoacetic acid
chemical compound
ethyl iodoacetate
chemical compound
allyl iodide
chemical compound
benzyl iodide
chemical compound
adosterol
Adosterol is an iodine-containing sterol.
haloprogin
Haloprogin is an antifungal drug used to treat athlete's foot and other fungal infections. It is marketed in creams under the trade names Halotex, Mycanden, Mycilan, and Polik.
iodopropynyl butylcarbamate
chemical compound
diiodohydroxypropane
Diiodohydroxypropane is an antiseptic and disinfectant. It is also known as jothion or iothion.
iodoacetone
Iodoacetone is an organoiodine compound with the chemical formula The substance is a colorless liquid under normal conditions, soluble in ethanol.
iodocholesterol
Iodocholesterol, or 19-iodocholesterol, also as iodocholesterol (131I) (INN) and NP-59, is a derivative of cholesterol with an iodine atom in the C19 position and a radiopharmaceutical. When the iodine atom is a radioactive isotope (iodine-125 or iodine-131), it is used as an adrenal cortex radiotracer in the diagnosis of patients suspected of having Cushing's syndrome, hyperaldosteronism, pheochromocytoma, and adrenal remnants following total adrenalectomy.
Iodotrifluoroethene
Iodotrifluoroethylene is the organofluorine compound with the formula . It is a volatile colorless liquid.
methiodal sodium
Methiodal is a pharmaceutical drug that was used as an iodinated contrast medium for X-ray imaging. Its uses included myelography (imaging of the spinal cord); for this use, cases of adhesive arachnoiditis have been reported, similar to those seen under the contrast medium iofendylate.
ibacitabine
Ibacitabine (or ibacitabin, or '''5-iodo-2'-deoxycytidine ''') is an antiviral drug. It is topically applied to treat herpes labialis.
1,5-i-aedans
IAEDANS is an organic fluorophore (fluorescent molecule). It stands for 5-({2-[(iodoacetyl)amino]ethyl}amino)naphthalene-1-sulfonic acid. It is widely used as a marker in fluorescence spectroscopy.
iodocyclohexane
Iodocyclohexane is an organoiodine compound with the chemical formula .
herapathite
Herapathite, or iodoquinine sulfate, is a chemical compound whose crystals are dichroic and thus can be used for polarizing light.
N-iodosuccinimide
'''N-Iodosuccinimide (NIS''') is a reagent used in organic chemistry for the iodination of alkenes and as a mild oxidant.
domiodol
Domiodol is a mucolytic and expectorant. It has been marketed in Italy by Maggioni under the trade name Mucolitico Maggioni and sold in syrup, sachet, and tablet form, with a dosage of 60mg three to four times daily in adults. Contraindications include severe renal or hepatic insufficiency.
