Arsinoitheriidae
Arsinoitheriidae is a family of mammals belonging to the extinct order Embrithopoda. Remains have been found in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Romania. Arsinotheriids were closely related to hyraxes, elephants, sirenians, and possibly desmostylians (as part of the superorder Afrotheria). The name of the clade honors the wife of Ptolemy II, Queen Arsinoe II of Egypt, as the first fossils of Arsinoitherium were found near the ruins of her palace.

Les Arsinoitheriidae sont une famille fossile de l'ordre, lui aussi disparu, des embrithopodes. Ce sont d'étranges mammifères présentant une ressemblance superficielle avec les rhinocéros. Les fossiles datent du milieu de l'Oligocène au début du Miocène. Ils se rapprochent des proboscidiens, des siréniens, des damans et des oryctéropes, étant comme eux des paenongulés. Ils sont nommés ainsi en l'honneur de la reine d'Égypte Arsinoé II, femme du pharaon Ptolémée II.
