Konstanz (Aussprache [ˈkɔnʃd̥ants], , standarddeutsch auch [ˈkɔnstants], alemannisch [ˈkoːʃd̥əts, ˈxoʃd̥əts] und ähnlich) ist die größte Stadt am Bodensee und Kreisstadt des Landkreises Konstanz. Die vormalige Freie und zugleich Reichsstadt gehört zur Bundesrepublik Deutschland und liegt an der Grenze zur Schweiz. Seit dem 1. April 1956 ist Konstanz eine Große Kreisstadt und bildet ein Oberzentrum innerhalb der Region Hochrhein-Bodensee im Regierungsbezirk Freiburg des Landes Baden-Württemberg. In Konstanz sind zwei Hochschulen ansässig, die Universität Konstanz und die Hochschule Konstanz Technik, Wirtschaft und Gestaltung (HTWG). Die Geschichte des Ortes reicht bis in die römische Zeit zurück.
