Makoto Kobayashi

Makoto Kobayashi is a Japanese theoretical physicist born in Nagoya in 1944. He is a member of the Japan Academy and has worked at Nagoya University, Kyoto University, and the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization. He received his education at Nagoya University, where his doctoral advisor was Shoichi Sakata. His field of work is particle physics.

Kobayashi has received the Nobel Prize in Physics, the Order of Culture, the High Energy and Particle Physics Prize, and the Person of Cultural Merit. He is recognized in the Nobel Laureates collection and the Nobel Physics collection. He speaks Japanese and is related to Toshiki Kaifu and Norio Kaifu.
