Le Market Theatre, situé dans la banlieue bohème du centre-ville de Newtown à Johannesburg, en Afrique du Sud, a été ouvert en 1976, fonctionnant comme un théâtre antiraciste indépendant durant l'apartheid. Le Market Theatre a été renommé John Kani Theatre en 2014 en l'honneur du célèbre acteur de théâtre sud-africain John Kani.
