Paolo Lorenzani (b. Rome 1640 - d. October 1713) was an Italian composer of the Baroque Era. He was trained by Horatio Benevoli. He served as maestro di cappella at a Jesuit church in Rome and later at the cathedral of Messina in Sicily. [1] In 1678, Lorenzani traveled to France, hoping to find fortune.[2] Louis XIV recognized his talent and invited him to Paris, where he served as music master to the queen.[3] Under orders of the king, Lorenzani traveled back to Italy and recruited singers for
