Placopyrenium is a genus of saxicolous (rock-dwelling), crustose lichens in the family Verrucariaceae.
==Taxonomy== The genus was circumscribed in 1987 by the Austrian lichenologist Othmar Breuss. He assigned Placopyrenium bucekii as the type species.
