The associated property is called tetramery. An example from inorganic chemistry is titanium methoxide with the empirical formula Ti(OCH3)4, which is tetrameric in solid state and has the molecular formula Ti4(OCH3)16. An example from organic chemistry is kobophenol A, a substance that is formed by combining four molecules of resveratrol.

Con il termine tetramero si indica in chimica un oligomero costituito da 4 sottounità, ovvero 4 monomeri. Soprattutto nel caso dei tetrameri proteici, esso si assembla tipicamente a partire da 2 dimeri, come nel caso dell'emoglobina, che è costituita da due dimeri identici, composti da una catena α e una β. In caso i quattro monomeri siano identici tra di loro, la molecola si definisce omotetramero.
