German pianist, composer and conductor, Carl Heinrich Carsten Reinecke was born in 1824 in what today is Denmark, and died in 1910 in Leipzig. He was director of the Gewandhaus Orchestra from 1860 to 1895, and taught piano and composition in Leipzig - some of his students included Edvard Grieg, Leos Janacek, Isaac Albeniz and Max Bruch. He composed four piano concertos, three symphonies and some operas, and his most famous work is the Sonata Udine for flute and piano, op. 167. <a href="https://
