Friedrich Wilhelm Riedt (1710–1783) was a Berlin flautist, composer, and music theorist who moved inside the core musical machinery of Frederick the Great’s Prussian capital. Reported by Marpurg as being of English-born parentage, Riedt’s own flute training is unknown, but his compositional education is explicitly linked to Christoph Schaffrath and Johann Gottlieb Graun.
