John IX

John IX, born in Tivoli in 840, was a male Catholic priest, writer, and Pope. He held the positions of Pope and cardinal-deacon within the Catholic Church. A member of the Benedictines, he worked in Rome and spoke Latin. His name in his native language was Ioannes IX.

He died in Rome on January 5, 900, and was buried in St. Peter's Basilica. John IX is recognized in the Popes collection and has five recorded works. He is described in sources including the Nordisk familjebok, Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary, The Nuttall Encyclopædia, and the 11th edition of Encyclopædia Britannica.
