Also known as Twayblade, Common Twayblade, European Common Twayblade
soort uit het geslacht Neottia
SPECIES
With its typical pair of broad oval leaves and greenish-yellow flowers, twayblade is not your typical orchid. The lips on the individual flowers are are long and slitted halfway down. The plant is also covered in fine sticky hairs. All these features make it easy to identify, if you're in the right place. It is a rare and protected plant, growing in slightly damp, half-shaded areas. The plant is mostly found in relatively nutrient-rich soils in deciduous woods, along the edges of forests and bushes and in grasslands. The visible part of the plant above ground has generally died by August.
