Die Phycodnaviren, wissenschaftlich Phycodnaviridae (von griechisch φῦκος phŷkos „(See-)Tang“, „(Rot-)Algen“ und DNA), bilden eine Familie großer Doppelstrang-DNA-Viren mit einem Genom von 160 bis 560 Kb. Sie infizieren Meeres- und Süßwasser-Algen und gehören zu einem Phylum großer Viren, das vom International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) im März als Nucleocytoviricota (veraltet Nucleocytoplasmaviricota oder Nucleocytoplasmic large DNA viruses, NCLDV) offiziell bestätigt wurde.
