8.0Inhabitants of a small village in Hungary deal with the effects of the fall of Communism. The town's source of revenue, a factory, has closed, and the locals, who include a doctor and three couples, await a cash payment offered in the wake of the shuttering. Irimias, a villager thought to be dead, returns and, unbeknownst to the locals, is a police informant. In a scheme, he persuades the villagers to form a commune with him.

Satantango (Sátántangó) è un film del 1994 diretto dal regista ungherese Béla Tarr. Coprodotto con Svizzera e Germania, anche se girato interamente in Ungheria, il film è in bianco e nero e ha una durata di oltre 7 ore. La storia è basata sul romanzo Sátántangó dello scrittore ungherese László Krasznahorkai, che nel corso degli anni ha fornito al regista Béla Tarr già numerose storie, a partire dal soggetto per il celebre film del 1988 Kárhozat (Perdizione).
