Die Zwickmühle ist ein spezielles Schachmotiv, und zwar eine mehrfache Wiederholung eines Abzugsschachs. In einer Folge von Schachgeboten und Abzugsschachs gewinnt man Material. Der Ausdruck wurde von Aaron Nimzowitsch im Jahre 1925 für dieses Kombinationsmotiv eingeführt. Eine Zwickmühle kommt in der Turnierpraxis sehr selten vor. Der Schachbegriff ist von der Zwickmühle im Mühlespiel abgeleitet.
