Composer, conductor, pianist and pedagogue, born 25 February 1807 in Romanov in Volhynia, died 9 October 1867 in Warsaw. Dobrzyński first attended the Jesuit College in Romanov and then, in 1817-21, the Podolian Gymnasium in Winnitsa. He learnt music from his father, Ignacy, the violinist, composer and conductor, and from 1825 from Józef Elsner in Warsaw, first privately and in 1826-8 as a student of the Main School of Music.
