إيبلا مدينة أثرية سورية قديمة كانت حضارة ومملكة عريقة تعتبر أول قوية عالمية مسجلة في التاريخ، ازدهرت في شمال غرب سورية في منتصف الألف الثالث قبل الميلاد، وبسطت نفوذها على المناطق الواقعة بين هضبة الأناضول شمالًا وشبه جزيرة سيناء جنوبًا، ووادي الفرات شرقًا وساحل المتوسط غربًا، وأقامت علاقات تجارية ودبلوماسية وثيقة مع دول المنطقة والممالك السورية ومصر وبلاد الرافدين، كشفت عنها بعثة أثرية إيطالية من يرأسها عالم الآثار باولو ماتييه (بالإيطالية: Paolo Matthiae) كانت تتولى التنقيب في موقع تل مرديخ قرب بلدة سراقب في محافظة إدلب السورية على مسافة نحو 55 كم جنوب غرب مدينة حلب في سوريا.
