जॉन कॉर्नफोर्थ

John Cornforth (1917–2013) was an Australian chemist and university teacher specializing in organic chemistry. Born in Sydney, he was educated at the University of Sydney, St Catherine's College, and the University of Oxford, where his doctoral advisor was Robert Robinson. He served as a member of the Royal Society, the National Academy of Sciences, the Australian Academy of Science, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Cornforth worked at the University of Warwick and the University of Sussex. He received several honors, including the Copley Medal, the Corday-Morgan Prize, the title of Fellow of the Royal Society, and the rank of Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He was also nominated for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Cornforth, who was deaf, resided in Brighton, where he died on December 8, 2013. His spouse was Rita Harradence.
