Also known as Shabu shabu
Shabu-shabu () is a Japanese nabemono hotpot dish of thinly sliced meat and vegetables boiled in water and served with dipping sauces. The term is onomatopoeic, derived from the sound – "swish swish" – emitted when the ingredients are stirred in the cooking pot. The food is cooked piece by piece by the diner at the table. Shabu-shabu is generally more savory and less sweet than sukiyaki, another hot pot dish.

Jupiter and Venus from Earth

It was visible around the world. The sunset conjunction of Jupiter (left) and Venus (right) in 2012 was visible almost no matter where you lived on Earth. Anyone on our planet with a clear western horizon at sunset could see them. That year, a creative photographer traveled away from the town lights of Szubin, Poland to photograph a near closest approach of the two planets. The bright planets were then separated by only three degrees and his daughter struck a humorous pose. A faint red sunset still glowed in the background. Jupiter and Venus are together again this week after sunset, passing within a degree of each other about two days from today.

Shabu-shabu (jap. しゃぶしゃぶ) – japońskie danie jednogarnkowe typu nabe-mono, składające się z bardzo cienko pokrojonego mięsa wołowego i warzyw gotowanych w wodzie i maczanych następnie w sosach. W szerokim znaczeniu nazwa ta odnosi się także do wieprzowiny, drobiu i owoców morza spożywanych w ten sposób. Nazwa potrawy jest onomatopeiczna, pochodzi od dźwięku („chlapu chlapu”) kolejnego zanurzania i mieszania składników w gotującej się wodzie w garnku.
