OverviewAI-generated
Fruit is a component of plant anatomy that develops from the gynoecium. It is classified as a subclass of the ovary and is part of angiosperms. The structure consists of a seed and a pericarp. It is distinct from, yet partially coincident with, the general concept of fruit.
The subject is categorized under Fruits and Fruit morphology. It appears in the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary, Gujin Tushu Jicheng, and the Encyclopædia Britannica 11th edition. It is referenced by 750 other encyclopedia articles and has a PubMed count of 276108. It is included in the Wikipedia:List of articles all languages should have and Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/4.

Owoc (łac. fructus) − w znaczeniu botanicznym występujący u roślin okrytozalążkowych organ powstający z zalążni słupka, zawierający w swym wnętrzu nasiona, osłaniający je i ułatwiający rozsiewanie. Część owocu otaczająca nasiona określa się mianem owocni (perykarpu). Gdy w powstaniu organu otaczającego nasiona biorą udział inne części rośliny niż słupek – twór taki określany jest mianem owocu pozornego. Gdy w jednym kwiecie występuje większa liczba słupków wolnych (słupkowie apokarpiczne), wtedy powstające z nich owoce tworzą owoc zbiorowy na wspólnym dnie kwiatowym (np. malina, jaskier). Natomiast z kilku kwiatów zebranych w skupiony kwiatostan powstają owocostany (morwa, kłębek buraka, figowiec, ananas). Budowa owoców stanowi adaptację do różnych form rozsiewania.
