Friedrich Wilhelm Christian Karl Ferdinand Freiherr von Humboldt, plus connu sous le nom Wilhelm von Humboldt (en français, Guillaume de Humboldt), né à Potsdam le 22 juin 1767 et mort à Tegel le 8 avril 1835, est un philosophe, linguiste et haut fonctionnaire prussien. Il fut à l'initiative et participa à la fondation, dans le cadre de son projet de réforme libérale de l'éducation allemande et européenne, de l'université de Berlin. Par delà ses contributions majeures à la philosophie du langage, il est l'un des pionniers des sciences de l'éducation. Il fut l'architecte principal du système prussien d'éducation qui a fortement inspiré les systèmes d'éducation de pays comme les États-Unis ou le Japon.
