Encyclopedic overview
The Chacoan mara (Dolichotis salinicola) or Chacoan cavy is a relatively large South American rodent of the cavy family. They are a close relative of the better known Patagonian mara. The Chacoan mara is the sole member of the genus Dolichotis.
